I was wandering what kind of horsepower and torque to expect out of a engine I am having built. It is a BBC with a 4.25 stroke, standard rod and .060 piston 9.5 compression. The heads are ported 049, air gap intake, 850 road demon vac secondaries, roller rockers cam is a comp advertised duration 278/288 .050 = 234/244 lift is .564/.570 lobe sep 111deg. hooker comp 2in jet hot coated headers. Just wandering!!!! Thanks

my guess; 550 horse/625 torque, based on the fact that is a 496 stroker with small oval ports, you might make a little more torque possibly, hopefully you assemble the engine and blueprint it

I'd say around 550hp/600tq. But if you get a single plane/DP carb and a cam with about 5-10 more deg. of dur. it would make 600hp.
Dont worry about TQ - it will make more the you can hook ;)

Not a tremendous amount of HP. but more torque than a Motor Home could use. I think you may find a need for a real good chassis shop to even get 1/2 of that torque to the ground.

Hey thanks.. I was just wandering what to expect. I don't plan on racing it just driving it on the weekends.. A friend of mine that owns a machine shop is doing all the work so hopefully it works out for me..

My combination is about a 9.8CR. 496 with oval Merlins that I kinda cleaned up.
A CC 282S solid cam installed 110/110, a Strip Dom. single plane and a tuned 3310-2, 750 Holley and a set of 1.75" four tube long Heddmans.
D2K says like 551hp at 5500rpm and 579t at 4500rpm so I just call her my great big "tow-truck" motor!! pdq67
