I have been running my car with the 750 dominator but decided to try a 1050 a friend loaned me. This is on the 69 camaro with the 427 BBC (see signature).
I was not to sure where I should start with the jets, so I used 83/90s with a power valve in the front only. The car seemed to run good with the larger carburetor and jets so I drove to the track for Saturday night bracket races. I expected to see the car slow down in the 1/8 mile and pick up in the mile per hour in the 1/4, but not this
. I think maybe the car was to lean with the jets I started with, but because of rain we only got one time trial so I never jetted it up bigger that night. I want to know what you guys think about this switch, and do you think just jetting the carb up is all that may have cause the quicker et in the 1/8 with no change in mile and hour. I expected to see a big change for good or bad but not this?

750 Dominator 8/2/03
60ft- 1.602
330- 4.674
1/8- 7.260
mph- 94.98
1000-9.51
1/4- 11.42
mph- 118.01

1050 Dominator 8/16/03
60ft- 1.605
330- 4.667
1/8- 7.238
mph- 95.29
1000-9.485
1/4- 11.393
mph- 117.95

Thanks

Which 1050? My normal jetting with power valves in both ends was low 90s in each end. This was on a BB with a dual plane and 6000 convertor. I can't see how your mild 355 can possibly run well at all with one especially with your convertor. See if someone will loan you an annular 750 4150 type Holley I bet you will be very happy.

Oger,

Its not on the 355 its on the 427. I think the carb number is L9373 or something like that. The 1050 has the same casting numbers that my 750 has on the base 12R8795B, but this is the castig number and not the list number.I think the power valve I have is 3.5 inches.

Sorry I didn't read your whole discription. With a 3500 convertor and 4.10s you still are going to be a lot over carbed with that big a double pumper. I think your carb is an annular model which will help and will require a lot less jet.

I remember that Mikes 1050 had some lean BSFC #s on the dyno - they couldnt
get enough fuel thru it. It may need a high speed air bleed adjustment. I say try to
jet it up some and see what happens. I was hoping it would have picked up a tenth
or so. Then in good weather it should run around an 11.0 - and I could uncap that thing
for you (with my header extensions) and it would be deep in the tens. Hopefully we
can still get it there this winter. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
You remember John, with the clean red 67 Chevelle? He brought it down to the car show
sat. with the 603HP ~ 422SB. I went for a ride in it, on ET street the thing was all
over the feeder in 2nd gear at 40+mph, it wouldnt hook for nothin - but it was a fun ride! :D
Should run in the 10s, but I dont think it will hook.

Rafael,
I jetted that thing up 6 sizes front and back (89/96s)it is getting fuel now. I may have to go down in size next time out but I shouldn't have to go up any more. I would have liked to have seen Johns car Saturday, but maybe next time out to the track or the next car show I can make.
I remember one night at the track I ran against him while I had the 4 speed and couldn't get my car to hook he beat me bad then and it sounds like he has a lot more motor now.
