An aftermarket cam would be a great idea,
550hp easy http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif The stock one sucks.
Comp Cams 242/248 would be nice.
I'm running a custom Lunati 252/263
The engine almost makes too much torque for the street so I went with a single plane Team-G intake instead of a dual-plane, because it all over with be 6000rpm anyway.
And a big carb - 850+cfm http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
And you dont need much gear if its a streetcar, it will still blow the tires of half way through second to about 60mph http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

67RS502 - Why does it suck? I have the engine in both the camaro and soon in my chevelle. I thought it performed quite well! Opinions would be appreciated.

BTW, the duration you posted it a lot to me, how is the streetability?

Which duration is alot to you - the 242/248 I recomended? Or the 252/263 which is just what I'm running. The reason I dont like the stock cam is because it makes too much of a compromise, it has that muscle-car sound but the HP and rpm are not there, its only good to about 5500. These engines are big and love big cams. Yes my cam is big, but it is streeetable, it idles at 700 in gear and 900 in nuteral, I was not recommending that one to you, I was just letting you know what I'm running. But a 242/248 would be worth 50hp on the top-end, and would really wake up that torque motor.
And a single plane intake too!

Ya, the 252/263 seems big for the street! I run the Holley MPFI. Maybe this winter I might upgrade the cam and port the intake manifold, the ports are kinda small even though Holley claims it will feed 950HP.

67 - normally a single plane is used in conjunction with a high reving engine and low reving torque benifits from a dual plane. By your signature you have a potent combo. Are you running the single plane to reduce the initial low rpm torque in an effort to gain traction?

DjD - According to Holley being fuel injected it doesnt have the same characteristics with the type of manifold that a carburator has. The Design is a single plane, when you look down it, it is wide open and goes into each port with minimul webbing between ports. There is no lack of low end, especially with the 700R4's low first gear.

We just mounted up some M/T slicks and will be taking it to the track tomarrow. I really dont know what to expect but I'm hoping for low 12's. We are at 4400 feet elevation and around 95 degrees right now.

I guess what I was trying to ask for was help or advise on the installation of the zz/502 crate engine in my 92RS. Such as motor mounts, headers, transmission, what to do with the stock computer. Can I take the computer out and still use my power windows, stuff like that.

67 camaro -----> yes the cam is big for the street, but I was trying to build a 10 sec. street/strip car. How do you like the Holley EFI? Hows the driveability and tuning? I was thinking of going to it, I've got a Demon carb now http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif
DjD ----> I went with a single plane to get as much top-end HP as possible, these things make enough torque to blow the tires of to 60mph anyway, but HP will help the car mph on the big end at the track.

Jory - These 502's are non-emmisions pre-73 engines and wont pass for 92.

67camaro- This 92RS is my race car, it's just very modernized.I have a toyota 4-runner that is my daily driver. So I'm not concerned with emissions. However I would still like to keep it as stock in appearance as possible.

I see, I bet it would be a very tight fit!
