: Tools to elongate holes in fender?

I just loosely fit on some repop fenders my 67. I immediately noticed the passenger side needs some holes elongated in order to get the fender to line up better. Since I've never done it I don't want my first pass to look hacked. My thoughts are drill, files and small cutting blade of some kind. Anyone willing to give me there approach to this? Thanks.

Die grinder with a short "burr" works wonders, or a good ol' fashioned rat tail file & some elbow grease. The large fender washers usually cover the hole but if ya have to enlarge the hole too much, the washer won't cover it and it will be obvious what has taken place.;)

Seen your other question about fender to door & rocker gaps. My advice is to mainly concentrate on the fender -door gap...the fender-rocker gap varies quite a bit from car to car. It's acceptable, (actually preferred, imo) to have the fender up snug with the rocker as long as you've got the specified .18 + .04 door gap. Specified fender - rocker is .09 + .06...

As Gar noted the good ol' faithful die grinder works well. If you or a friend own a dremmel tool they work also and attachment tools are plentiful at Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, etc.. Several people have told me of where they could not get some repop fenders (right side worst if I remember correctly) back far enough to line up with the door and they actually cut and relocate the main locater at the rear top of the fender.

I have a pear shaped tungstien grinding file that fits in the electric drill..they are not cheap, but woth every penny over the yrs....makes a die grinder look like a bit of sandpaper...and because it so quick and pear shaped and slots end up looking like factory they are so tidy.
