horse,
You really need the vacuum advance on a street driven car. The carb must have some type of vacuum fittings ?? If not how about the intake manifold, I have yet to see one without some type of provision to put in a vacuum fitting.

You really need a ported vaccum source. Ported does not have vaccum until the throttle is opened a little. You may be able to take vaccum from the manifold, but being not ported, you may experience dieseling when shutting off. I can't believe they make a carb without it. Is it a race only model?

Dave,
I have found that most performance engines, especially with unmodified HEI's, seem to like direct manifold vacuum. Gives them more initial advance and much better bottom end response. Just my observations.
