I want to save some money on the top end build of my new long block. I was looking at a full MSD setup (pro billet, 6al, and blaster II) but freaked when I saw it would cost almost $500. I have an aluminum head, full roller 355 that I hope will run mid 11's with a 3.73 or higher gear, and a 3500 stall. What type of ignition are you guys running? I see in summit they sell the same distributer that comes in all the new chevy crate engines, its only $220 would that not be enough for my combo? I figure its good enough for a new 502 might be good enough for my combo.

I have the MSD 6A (got a 6AL ready to go in), the MSD pro-billet, and blaster 2 coil. If you really wanted to save your money, try to hook up with a used GM HEI distributor, and maybe in the future you can upgrade it to an MSD setup. I might even have one that I pulled out of my car when I put in the pro-billet. Let me know if you're interested.

check out www.melsignition.com (http://www.melsignition.com) Super nice guy and very resonable prices for the product and service. I have one in my motor and love it.

I have the msd ready to run pro billet dist and and crome msd blaster 2 coil. I think I spent around $280 and couldn't be happier. If I want to run a 6AL in the future, my distributor will work with it. Also, look at the Accel billetproof ready to run distributor. I think it cost $191 and I think their coil is around $35 in Summit.

Re-curved HEI. Use an external coil if you like. That will do the trick.

Ready to run billet and blaster coil. Can be used with or without 6AL. The 6AL plugs right in when your ready for it. Nice unit.
