I have just sucsefully completed breaking in my new engine. Now its time for the fun part. Tuning.

Engine specs:

GM 010 4 bolt Block 4.030 bore Decked to .005
Eagle lightweight Forged 3.75 Stroke Crank 1.89 rod journals
Eagle HSP lightweight 6 inch H beam Rods
Mahle forged flat top pistons
Felpro 1010 head gasket (.039" compressed)
Canfield 220 cc heads with 2.08 valves and 65.5 cc chambers
10.87 to 1 compression
1.6 roller rockers
Comp Cams 292h hydraulic cam
Victor Jr. intake
650 Speed Demon Carb Mechanical secondary (stock jets 6.5 power valve)
Dynomax stepped headers

This is installed in a 1968 Camaro Coupe
Full interior
12 bolt rear with Eaton posi and 4.11 gears
M21 Muncie Transmission
28" rear tire

I have her idleing at 700 rpm, but only 5" vacume she seems to like 12 degrees at idle with all idle screws out 1 1/4 turns. I assume the power valve is open.... I would like to try to get the vacume up around 9 if possible RPMs dont really matter being a stick....

What do you think a good baseline would be for base line timing, idle rpm, idle screw setting and Jets?

Its currently running lean at 2000 rpm.

Thanks for all advice!

Hey Eric, If you want to get that vacumn up you have to lose the victor jr. and go with an rpm airgap or performer rpm. Those single planes really kill the vac and low end (ask me how I know) As far as the lean condition at 2000 rpm how was that determined ?

Thanks, I thought I could get it up to at least 9in. I will go with a hydroboost before I give up on the victor Jr! As for Lean at 2000 rpm, that comes from looking at the plugs and it breaks up once it gets off the idle circut.
