rabelson51 Sep 15th, 10, 04:21 AM Hi all just got my 68 camaro less than a month ago and had a question- while driving I noticed that the front dash lights were dimming and the radio ( a new alpine stereo system) was flashing for about 90 seconds. The battery voltage meter read. 8/8.5 than all of a sudden all components went back to normal and the voltage meter read 12 again . What's the deal ?? Any help for this newbie is much appreciated- Everett#2390 Sep 15th, 10, 04:39 AM More than likely, the voltage regulator is going South. The box on drvr side next to the radiator, if original design of alternator is still installed. Disconnect a battery cabke, preferedly ground, and plug & play an electronic one, Wells P/N VR715. Don't forget the original ground strap must go back on. If internal regulated alt, the regulator is internal to the alt case and more disassembly is needed, if you would like to do it. Remove alt from car, split the case, pull off the rear half and swap out reg, reassemble alt and reinstall. rabelson51 Sep 15th, 10, 08:45 AM thanx will do | ||
