whats the best cooling products that actually work. Is a 3 core or a 4 core better than the other. What is the best mechanical fan and so on.

4 cores are better than 3, the more cores that you have the more cooling you'l have. aluminum is the best. a flexolite fan will pull a lot of air then they flatten out at high rpm. have one on my 67 and love it.

Tell you what, I have a 396 bored over .030, has 425hp. Has a stock water pump 160 thermo, and had a copper 4 core bigblock radiator. It would heat up to 205 cruising and alot hotter around town. My fan a 2000 cfm 16" electric, is not enough. I bought a Be Cool alum radiator and now at cruise it is 195 and around town is 210. I am going to have to add a second 14 fan to cool it more. If I was going to do it all over, I would go with a meachanical with a good shroud and probably would be better.

I really think it will all come down to the motor. I was having no luck cooling my 355.

On my last weekendend tear down I installed a 18" Delco electric fan off a late model vette I believe, made up a shroud, put my 2 old 12" fans on the front on a switch pushing.

Now on the days when it's 110 degrees and I'm stuck in traffic I have yet to top 205, not bad for a car that topped out at 240.

I have a 30 over 396 in my camaro with a pretty radical cam. I just recently put a cowl induction hood on my car in place of the factory SS hood. That really cooled my engine down alot.

i have heard it said that for proper cooling, air must be able to exit the engine compartment. i have a 12:1 355, 3 core copper radiator,160 degree t-stat and 16" 2000 cfm puller electric fan and a cowl induction hood. i only run 190-200 idling in 95-100 degree temp's. i dont know if it has anything to do with it, but i also have redline's coolant additive called "water wetter", you can get it from summit, it claims to be able to reduce temp's by up to 30 degree's, depending on the mixture.by the way, it only runs 180 when cruising
