Mine is making almost as much torque. It has lived for about a year and is still going strong. You should be alright unless you put a big set of slicks on the back and start pulling 5,000 RPM hole shots. When the back tires hook up, something has to give. It is usually the clutch or the tranny.

i have a big block making around that. on my way to work, cruising at 4K, i lost 1st and 3rd gear in my M20. it might be a simple fix, but even after the fix, id still have to baby it. and do you really want to baby a 500 hp/500 ft lbs car? im going to switch to a tremec tko. overdrive too... cruising at 2000 http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I make 630hp/585ftlbs and my M22 has taken the abuse for a couple of years now. Being that it is a road race car (with license plate),....the suspension is quite firm. I dont think I could really harness its full potential, so the trans hasent really taken too much abuse.

If you ever hook it it will be DOA. If you use it as stated it may last forever. The biggest problem with Muncies is that they are just worn out from too many years of abuse. The new cases are a definate help but most gearsets you will find have very worn engagement teeth and there is not really a good fix except expensive replacement.

This is the only reason it lives through the abuse....and check out the splits available!!

The whole kit is cheaper than you think..

The big problem with O.E.M. cases are they have been abused for too many years and the cluster pin gets beat down in the case which loosens the factory press fit and they leak out the front. But if you re-bush the cluster pin to make it tight again, you can also move the pin hole up .008" to .010" to get better gear contact. I've been using these cases for over 8 years now in drag and road race cars without any problems. One of my customers has a 496" Big Block in a 1969 Camaro that runs 11.40's at 130+ mph with drag radials. Rebushed 660 O.E.M. case, O.E.M. M-22 gear set with a few of my road race tricks inside. The Camaro is a full interior street car with 4.10 gears.
