RSSSfanatic Sep 27th, 10, 12:20 PM I always wince a little bit whenever I see a Camaro with a nice paint job, but with the glaring issue of emblems misplaced. It really wouldn't take that much effort to get it right. I was at a large car show over the weekend, and I bet I saw half a dozen cars with problems like this. I saw a very nice 2-owner 68 RS/SS that was very nicely restored, but the lower portion of his bumble bee stripe had the pin stripe wrap around below the emblem. I have seen this done on both top and bottom, but this one was like this just on the bottom. I asked him about it, and he said that it was shown this way in the assembly manual. :clonk: I do not own a 68 AIM to verify this. Has anyone else seen this?
DjD Sep 27th, 10, 03:10 PM Tom per the AIM on the '68 D91 with the gap for the emblem, the stripe portion below the emblem is shown with the pin stripe underlining the emblem 1/4" above the start of the lower portion of the stripe.. On the portion above the enblem the stripe and pin stripe just end.
67RS/SS406 Sep 27th, 10, 03:59 PM It could just be the pictures, but the paint on the right side looks darker from the door forward.
The emblems and fan sticker give me the creeps too.
foreverlookin Sep 27th, 10, 10:51 PM I know someone who has a 69SS and swore that the "Caution Fan" sticker came on his car from the factory, although he is not the original owner and claims to have seen them on BJ cars so it must be right. I tried to bet him and said I would put up $1000 to his $100 and told him if he could find any reference to the sticker in any first gen assembly manual I would pay him.....still hasen't taken the bet.

I think you have a COPO... very valuable  One of one if I'm not mistaken. Don't let it out of your sight.
RSSSfanatic Sep 28th, 10, 07:16 AM Tom per the AIM on the '68 D91 with the gap for the emblem, the stripe portion below the emblem is shown with the pin stripe underlining the emblem 1/4" above the start of the lower portion of the stripe.. On the portion above the enblem the stripe and pin stripe just end.Yep, that is exactly how he did his. To my knowledge, it was never actually done this way from the factory. Some things in the AIM never actually came to be - for instance, the big block tri-power setup that is illustrated in the 69 AIM with the word "Cancelled" on the page. If someone has seen a 68 with the stripe done this way from the factory, please correct me!

LOL... So you have the 6 banger stripe, my car has it solid too even though I have the emblems.
JPCamaro Sep 28th, 10, 10:18 AM All-in-all the car doesn't look THAT bad emblem mistake and caution sticker aside. Although images on my computer screen (at work) aren't very clear. If I was looking to buy this car a closer inspection would be in order.

IRON MAN Sep 28th, 10, 03:03 PM At least he's got the "Caution" sticker in the right spot
The caution sticker is in the right spot only if it is a '68 Camaro. This appears in the book ORIGINAL CAMARO 1967-1969 The Restorer's Guide to all models 1967-1969. by Jason Scott page 72.

Yup. Perfectionism is good sometimes, but, not to this extreme. I don't even know what I'm looking at.
