67 camaro rear package tray always gets warped after 6 mos because i think my rear window is leaking i alreadu bought a clip set my question is;

do i need to buy any additional seal or rubber that goes around the back windsheild? when i speak with repo parts stores they claim i need some sort of 3/8" rear glass seal looks like a circular puddy almost but the glass shop says they have everything and will pull it and reseal it for 80.00.

not sure if 80.00 is resonable or too high either :( thanks upfront for advice

Question was answered in this thread: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=186309 Urethane is used to install glass, not the butyl of which you speak. Although some still use it. The amount of past threads on proper glass installation is abundant.

IMO i would remove the rear window clean everything out from the area around the window the camaro rust out around the window so if you just try to put more seal around it you might just be putting a bandaid on it and it will leak again

Plain and simple. Take out old glass, clean pinch weld. Prime glass and pinchweld with URETHANE primer, apply URETHANE ONLY to pinchweld, install glass, lightly pack, install mldg's.

Done deal, no fuss, no muss.

That is only if its not leaking because of RUST.

Evan; you asked about trunk leak, a year ago, it was not the window, and you were too
large to fit in the trunk, but your 'glass' shop was not the back glass. So now it is the back glass, find a new glass shop, and someone to put the tin in 2/3 years of leaking??

That was in regards to my 68 camaro where the water would get in the trunk. This is for my 67 i have 3 camaros a 67 a 68 and a 70 1/2 camaro. Diffrent car now diffrent issue. Im not getting water at all in the trunk of my 67 not all all. The water is getting in the inside back rear part of the car where the speaker tray is warping every 6 mos or so because i believe the back window has a seepage of water when i was her.

Actually i do read all the posts that people reply i dont pay membership for nothing and who better knows camaros than people who own them. I posted the trend than i logged back in and couldnt no longer find it, i did a search for it etc and still couldnt find it, im on base and my internet at my unit sometimes doesnt display everything all the time. I am thanksful for the advice and i do believe i thank everyone upfront for any advice.

Im taking her to the shop i got the clip set in. they said they will take the glass out and reseal it, i know water is seaping because on the inside of the car the glass is wet and i can see drips of water that are on the package tray this causes it to bubble up.
