Is there a way to install a GM "HEI" ignition on an original 67 Camaro 327 appart fron bending the cowl panel or relocating the motor mounts? We already have the ignition so an aftermarket solution is our last resourse. Any recomendation will be helpfull.

Some of the first gen cars have a little more clearance than others. My car required a moderate amount of fire wall "realignment". You know the "hammer meets sheet metal" deal.
If you are not willing to bash the firewall you may want to look into an after market distributor or contact ignition man as he builds small body HEI's which will fit, from what I have read on this site, without firewall modification. Do a search on Small Body HEI's and you should turn up something.

I found a old Edelebrock crossram and I did'nt want points. I got the small MSD magnetic distributor, its about the same size of the points disributor.

I've seen a few posts on this subject... My HEI fit fine. It's close, but I've no problems tuning it or anything. Is it just dumb luck?

I went through this delema a while ago. Read all the post and came to the conclusion the only sure thing, is to get a small body HEI. I sent and e-mail to I-man and he sent me all the details. By the time I was done with the coil, plugs, wires and all I had about $200 in the deal. The good part is you do not have to dent the firewall it fits and looks like original and has the correct ingition curve for your engine. IMO this is the only way to go.
