Flowmaster makes a 2 1/2 inch system for the earlier Camaros like yours. If you're doing away with the converter this might be the way to go for right at 300 dollars complete. Check out www.jegs.com (http://www.jegs.com) or search for the flowmaster web site for more info.

Tom's recommendation is a good one. I run a Flowmaster 2 1/2 true dual system with crossover pipe on my '79 Z28. The muffler has two pipes in and two pipes out and hangs sideways in front of the rear end assembly. This arrangment helps in ground clearance. Some 2gen cars run two mufflers which often get dinged over rough road surfaces (too low).

I agree with going with flowmaster. I have a '79 Z28 with a 350 and I ran true dual 2 1/2" pipes with two flowmaster 50 series mufflers. I love the way it sounds. It has a deep sound and you can hear it, but it's not really loud.
