What is the deal with the pictures? I just seen a thread today that wasn't 6 months old and the pictures were gone. Isn't there a way the pictures are locked in to the thread?

Only if they were uploaded to this site. In that case, the pic is usually a thumbnail that you have to click on to view full size. If the picture appears in the thread full size, it's hosted somewhere else. Many who host their own pictures via photobucket, flickr, etc use free accounts which have bandwidth limitations. Once their bandwidth is used up, things can't be viewed anymore. Or if they move the pictures or close the account the address of the picture is no longer valid.

Most of the pics I see disappearing are the ones in the thumbnails.

This is the thread that prompted this thread. I know there are others I have seen but I can't find them now.

from what I see, it's only one picture that's missing. That same picture has been repeated on 2 other posts so it looks like 3 pics. Other than that it looked full of pictures to me. Looks like the pic has been deleted from photo bucket or the account was closed.

That pic was hosted off site. Forgot that photobucket lets you do thumbnails as well. Probably moved, deleted, bandwidth limit, or account closed.

I used to have some on frappr and although I think they are still linking, frappr closed down and it's the only place I know they exist. Can't even log in anymore. Stuff seems to get lost on my PC after a little while.

I deleted that pic of the door handle bolt in Photobucket. I'm used to CRG where you simply upload from your own files and the pics stay there. No hosting is required, which is nice.

Deleted the pic or the entire PB account? I don't use PB anymore, but I've left everything I have there.

The pic was deleted, account is still active. I never use PB, only to post here. All my pics are sent to those needing them from my files.

I finally caved a couple years ago and got a flickr Pro account. Unlimited uploads and bandwidth and the originals are available unlike the free account. Costs a couple bux a month but for me anyway it's worth it.
