My 69 currently has a muffler shop built 2 1/2" system going to a crossflow muffler (dual in/dual out) in the stock location behind the differential. The muffler shop installed a muffler that has 2 1/2" inlets and 2" outlets mated to 2 1/2" tail pipes. Me thinks this sucks. A few questions:
1. Edelbrock offers a crossflow dual in/out muffler, their pn #5512 (all 2 1/2"). Does anyone have any experience with this muffler?
2. Would a dual exhaust system of the type with two mufflers be a better performance system than what I have but with a 2 1/2" in/out crossflow.
I guess in short what I want to know is does a good crossover muffler compare favorably with true duals. I'd like to just put a good muffler on and be done with it...but if a true dual muffler system will give appreciably more power then I'll go with that.
Thanks in advance!
