Hello everybody

I got a 67 convert. and need to fit in 2.5in exhaust...wanted 3in but thats to much and from what I hear.(putting in a zz4 and 700r4) I am going to need to shim the brace that comes with the convertables to fit it in. My question is are people using washers for shims and how much extra spacing is needed for this. Also, are there any other ways to beef up the this body/unibody besides subframe connecters.

You will probably only need to shim the x-brace if you buy a kit that is designed to fit a coupe. I don't know of any "kit" type exhaust systems designed to fit the early converts.

If you have a competent shop build a custom system, there is plenty of room above the x-brace to fit 2 1/2" pipe without shimming it down. Acrossover might be possible - it depends on a few things such as what trans you are running and what headers, if any, you are using.

If the mandrel bends and a crossover are critical to your application, I'd consider a "kit", and then having a pro massage the front part to fit or shimming the x-brace.
