DOUG G Jul 11th, 03, 03:08 PM Not 100% sure but I think 10-12 ? quarts. < if memory serves >. also if this is a new tranny and converter ... place about 2 quarts in converter before install and be sure to lube the snout/seal, then put about 4 quarts in tranny, and with the rear wheels off the ground < chock fronts for safety > start the car up and go through the gears at about 1000rpm < do NOT rev it >and then add 2 quarts more, and repeat. always check level before adding and add as necessary. When checking the fluid level car must be on level ground/jackstands. 67 Plum Jul 11th, 03, 04:22 PM With the wheels off the ground make sure the rear tires stop turning before you put trans. in park. camaroman7d Jul 11th, 03, 06:49 PM How much it holds will depend on how deep your pan is and how big/small of a converter you have. I would do as they suggested above. I agree if it is bone dry about 10 qts. if I remember right. Eric68 Jul 12th, 03, 04:30 AM With my 10" converter mine holds right about 10 qts. With a stock converter it held 12 qts. Bink Jul 12th, 03, 06:07 AM Thanks for all the help. The problem was my dad and I would check the fluid, put some in because it was a little low, and take it for a ride. Then a couple hours after we got back there would be a puddle on the floor. This happened twice. I thought maybe we were over filling it. I am also trying to see if it is comming out from around the dipstick hole, |
