Last questions for tonight, I promise  I need to install new u-joints in the nova. Which ones should I get? I know the ones without the zerk fitting are supposed to be stronger, but other than that, is any one better than the others available?
And on wheel studs, are longer than stock studs required for DOT type tires? Like ET streets or similar?

In the 2003 NHRA Rulebook, it does not specify a relationship between type of tire and wheel studs.
Both the ET Section and General Regulations on Tires and Wheels state a min of stud diameter will be into the hex portion of the lug nut. No mention of tire or wheel combo.
I've never had a problem with U-joints from TRW, Precision, and Spicer, either Zerk'd or not. If you get the ones with the fitting in the web, be sure to install the zerk on the compression area, driving yoke into the driven yoke.

At our track with slicks or ET streets they want to see at least two threads protruding past the end of the lug nut. They don't like those "acorn" lugnuts where you can't see the end of the stud at all. Not sure what the NHRA book says, but the two threads thing sounds pretty logical to me. Street tires they really don't seem to care what kind of lug nuts.
On U-joints I'm no expert on which brand is best, but I did learn that whenever I replace them I always seem to wind up with a vibration until I get the driveshaft rebalanced.
