My wife messed up the Windows Moviemaker program on our Vista operating system computer. It is a Dell computer and came with Vista Home Premium 32 bit operating system. Moviemaker is not available for Vista as an add-on download. My question is can we reinstall just the one program from the disk without reinstalling the whole operating system? Thanks.

Not unless you can view your disc and files that are on it which is probably not the case.

here is a link to download movie maker for vista.

Bottom line visa could be compared to milliuniun... just a fill in money maker and it sucks
Simply load XP and bew done with it...and it comes with movie maker and all the other stuff built in .
I have just built a new machine to run my cctv etc....
3 identiacl h/ds 1 xp another vista another 7
Xp and 7 honk...xp far quicker than 7...and has email movie maker etc built in.
At the end of the day, yes it is nice to have a pretty 'truck to haul the frieght' but at the end of the day, it works out to reliablity and speed.

I'm an XP die-hard but with Microsoft ending all XP support I can't recomend anyone starting fresh with it at this point... Windows 7 is the way to go and after futzing with Vista for a couple years and always going back to XP I have given in to Windows 7 and believe it's the best way to go.

Gary you can always try restoring Vista to a previous date, go back to before the Moviemaker got messed up. If that doesn't work in Add and Remove programs there is a feature for installing window components and you may be able to repair Moviemaker there... If I had Vista and were having issues with programs I would not futz with it very much and would be getting an upgrade to Windows 7 and just move on...

I hated Vista from the day we got the PC. My ignorance was that I had to set up restore points and never did. I asumed Dell did that. This is the first time we have had to deal with this issue. I have Windows 7 at work and I think I will go that way.

The Vista 2.6 WMM is not to use with our system. The directions say if WMM starts then don't use the download version.

When doing a "go back" you should get a calendar with days to choose from. Unless you disabled System Restore at some point it will be active and even though you didn't set any restore points you can go back to almost any previous day you want.
