As some of you know I am putting a new motor in the car and I'm about ready to order the headers. Will the hooker super comps fit with 1.7/8 primary without any mods to them. If there is any mods I would like to do it before I coat them. I ran into this with my chevelle,,, after buying coated headers I had to cut a couple tubes and re weld and re coat them. These headers will be bolted up to a 67 camaro sbc with 210 afr heads with angle plugs.

I would buy uncoated. Then fit them, dent as needed. Then have them coated.

Raw for sure. You only pay for coating twice one time and then you learn like I did. Ouch!

I got AFR 210s also, read this post and decide for yourself. I had a heck of a time with S&S. Had to bend to fit. (not much for dinging tubes) If I was to do over again I would buy DOUG"S 368s. Uncoated to begin with. I ran mine a year and am now having them coated. (the reason being was to break the motor in with the headers uncoated, not having to worry about burning the coating) Good luck.

I had to put a small dent (using a small ball peen on the tube and hammering with a larger hammer) on the driver side where the steering box is as well as the passenger side where the bolt holding the a-arm to the frame is.
I had them Jet Hot coated and they still look good as new.
Then again I have a rat motor in my 67. And I used GM BBC frame mounts.

exactly what I did on mine.
427 SBC AFR 210 "1050" heads on a Motown little M block. AGR steering box. I had to put a small dimple in the #1 tube up top, and a good size dent in the lower #7 tube to clear the pitman arm nut.

You could always use Eastwood header paint for a fraction of the cost of coated headers.

I too recommend buy in raw b/c you will need to do something to them more than likely. I have my stuff coated by Airborne. I'm sure there is someplace near you that does it. I know that Airborne does 10X a better jet coat than I've ever seen come on a store bought set. I have never seen any spray on crap or paint that comes close to a nice set of coated headers. I have two cars (BBC) that have Airborne coated headers. I use the $H@T out of my cars and they still look great. Bought a set of store bought one with jet coat for my old truck, they were rusty in a few weeks due to lame/thin coat.
