Johny, I believe it would be the 800cfm Q-jet. I have been playing with Q-jets latety and went to the Pick A Part last weekend. I have 2 800 from Cads, they were both 79's. You can tell the difference between the 750cfm and 800cfm by the venturi restriction in the center of the primary side. The 800 is larger. There is a picture in the Roe book on Qjets. I hope that helps, I am still learning about these myself. Galen

Supposedly, there were three applications for the 800 cfm Q-jets, Cadillac 472-500, Pontiac 455 (late), Oldsmobile 455 (late).

The Pontiac guys seem to think the smaller Q-jet has 11 top to body screws, the 800 has 13. Galen, can you confirm the number of screws in the 800's, please.

Hello Ignition Man, There are 9 screws on the 79 Cad 800cfm and my 79 Z28 750cfm. The Z28 car is #17059507 and the Cad #17059230. The funny thing on my Z28 is that it is a factory installed turbo 350. The 6th digit of the carb number (5) indicate a stick car (odd Number) also factory installed 373:1 gears. They were not avail on automatic cars only the 3:42's. The build sheet also had markings indicating a 4 speed, but was crossed out. Must be a G.M. thing in those days. Anyway, take it easy. And Johnnry, I will scan the picture of the diference in carbs this evening after I get back and send them to you. Galen

Galen,

Is that the little curved "bumps" (like a fifth of a dime sticking out) in the front venturies that you say can be used to tell an 800 Q-Jet from a 750 cfm one???

Which one is which??? pdq67

The 800 cfm carbs have the small bump in the venturi. the 750 cfm is 1 3/32" and the 800 is 1 7/32. Galen
