Hi,
im building a new exhaust for my 1987 camaro, im using shorty dynomax headers, and running a dual exhaust system.
I need a pair of mufflers that make a "tincan" sound, not that deep "headache" sound, BUT they should not make too much back pressure!!!
any suggestions on what brand/type mufflers i should use?
thanx!

Sounds like you are wanting Flowmasters...they have that race-car like tin sound. I just put the Flowmaster American Thunder kit on my 69 and it sounds great. Make sure you use a crossover pipe with your dual exhaust. I'm using an H and it sounds good. Some say the X is less restrictive.

I got duals on my '88 with Hooker Aero-Chamber mufflers. They sound amazing not annoyingly loud and "played out" like Flowmasters. Dare to be different! Not only do the Hookers make less noise and sound better, they also flow much better.

I have to agree, The Hooker Aero's are great. I just got them installed and it is a huge difference between them and some hokey turbo's.
I am going to attempt to record what it sounds like and get it on http://www.exhaustsoundclips.com
Maybe that would help. graemlins/beers.gif

Moroso Spiral Flow. Sound better than Flowmaster - to my ear, anyway - and waaaaaaaaaay less resonance inside the car.
