Eddy,

Just put one of Harolds solid roller grinds in my 540/ 9.5:1. 50299LUN .685 IN / .680 EX - 255 deg IN /264 deg EX @.050. I picked up 6mph over a cam similar to the mechanical one your running now. Be prepared to pull your springs, you will need approx 200 lbs on the seat and 500lbs over the nose. I used the Isky's 9375plus. I think there about 225 on the seat and endurance tested. A set of titanium retainers. and a good set of Isky redzones or crower with the hippo.

You may want the duration in the 270s for a little more lumpity lump and power . BTW I had harold grind my cam on a 110 LSA since I like to drive on the street a little, The billit cores he's using have a cast distributor gear pinned in place I believe, which is nice since you dont have to worry about wiping out your distributor gear. its really got pretty good manners since it only makes like 6.5 inches of vacuum. My first run out was 120.1 mph shifting @ 5900 second run Shifting @ 6300 122.4mph . Theres more in it but the track was so crowded that day I only got two runs in. I think this cam will probably make the power close to 7000.

One more thing if those Bill Mitchell heads came with rocker studs, trust me and pull them and throw them in the trash(china crap). Replace them with ARPs and purchase them long enough for plenty of thread engaugement. Your new springs are going to put a serious load on them, I sheered one off on #8 exhaust, lets just say I got real lucky when it broke I was all but idling and the rocker and nut with the broken stud in it was sitting in the top of the head. Dont know what rocker your using but hopefully its a good one like a pro magnum or crower/ crane gold. The crane energizer RR are not up to the task. I also added a stud girdle after I broke the stud It will tighten up the whole valve train and if a stud were to have broken with the girdle on the rocker will most likely be held captive.

Let us know what you choose and how it runs. I hope some of my experiances help. Mike (Wolfplace) was a big help over at team chevelle in setting up my valvetrain.

Good luck Rich

Things to consider, cams that say 7000rpm in a catalog will pull maybe 6500 in a 540...
Whats the compression?
I'd say something in the 260s dur. on a 110LS and keep the lobe a not so aggressive design since it sees some street use. Talk to Harold and he can set you up with a lobe that will live on the street and wont kill your springs. Also buy good lifters, like the Isky red zones, and good springs.
And with 410 gears, I'd stick a tall tire on it.

I'm sorry thats stupid graemlins/clonk.gif graemlins/clonk.gif !!!!!!!My compression is 10.25:1.......(10cc domed SRP pistons)
Thanks for the reply Rich and 67RS502!!

My speedshop here in holland will only order Comp-cam,Crane,Comp products(Howards).......UD Harold works for Lunati ...am i right?
Off course he can say me more about cam specs ...and maybe i can verify it back to compcam or others!?
Also with the lifters....this speedshop can only deliver compcam ,crane.
I just choose the extreme duty solid roller-lifters from comp-cam #866-16.
And later i've heard that this is a bad choice.........No real hippo option on it!

I've replace the rocker stuts for ARP's Rich!! ;)

Some in the 270's of duration is the maximum?

I'll let you now what cam i choose!......first some seaching!

Thanks again!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

If your not gonna go with Harold @ Lunati, then Give old Wolfy a email/call (on chevelles) as he's done a few big cube deals and could make a good recomendation.

If you want a UDHarold cam, you can order directly from Lunati. I'm sure they could arrange international shipping. I have one of Harold's first Lunati-ground cams.
And I'm sure Mike can help you with the Isky lifters, too. Don't use anything else.

First of all..........Thanks a lot for the reply!!

Bill,
My speedshop say's...."i can only order comp-cam,crane (comp products)howards".

I think he has good deals with them!
If i order a cam on myself(like lunati or so!!).....the prices and taxes/shipped are terrible high!!
That Comp-cam Solid roller lifter story ....i didn't now!!,But sh*t i have order it 6 months ago!!(Isky and crower are the better ones in roller-lifters says a lot of the people to me!!!!!!)
Are there comp-cam,or crane camshaft with a good reputation and the right one for my Merlin combo Bill?

Thanks and see you later

Eddy.
