found this 1983 magazine article on what they claim is the Nickey/Thomas prototype 427 Camaro.

Don't know what to make of this article but they claim this car is the prototype 427 Camaro done by Bill Thomas for the Nickey/Thomas program

The article states it a 1968 but it is obviously a SS 350 427 conversion 1967 Camaro with a yellow painted 2x4BB engine and says it is original paint

There was a Camaro exactly like that...that roamed the streets of Anaheim, Ca. when I lived there. It lived about 2 blocks away and was owned by an Anaheim PD detective....

There are a few articles where it looks like the same pictures were used of this car but its hard to tell from reading the articles.

They may all be original pictures from 1967.

The car and engine look the same as in the 1967 Bill Thomas photos.

one reason I think they are original pictures is the original looking black 7mm ignition wires are still on the car.
Those wires burned up pretty quick with headers and no heat shields.

In the pictures of the 1967 Motion 427 cars, they show a hi-temp orange 7mm wire and on the original Yenko 427 conversion paperwork they list a wire change to Autolite hi temp wires. I don't think the original black wires would last very long.

Long tubes are hard on wires. You have to really pay attention to how you run them.

those other two red Nickey Camaros look like they were originally SS396 Camaros.

They have the SS396 fender emblems and the SS grill emblem.

The early Camaros used SS350 grill emblem which was changed to SS when the factory SS396 came out

The SS350 also used a different fender emblem as seen on the Nickey with yellow engine

Joe, that first red car belongs to Sixtiesmuscle, and both those red cars are one and the same. The second is from when it was here in Az owned by Ken H. That car has been extensively discussed here on this site before and the discussion waters got pretty muddied and the thread was more than likely deleted. It was both ordered and converted at Bill Thomas, with the connection to Nickey being dubious at best.
