I am still trying to find the right custom bearing to fit my mis-machined crank bore. I heard that a .002" press fit is recommended for bronze bearings, but steel roller bearings call for only a .0005" press fit? Is this true?

I did some measuring for someone a a while back and if I remember right there was over .010" of press fit on the ones I measured!
All I can figure is, the bronze used on those bearings is very porous and will squash a lot, needs more interference to stay put. I measured lots of difference between a used one that had been installed and a new one.
It may still be in the archives either here or the engine section.

Make sure you use some loctite and you'll be fine.
