Many people have added cowl hoods to their Camaro. Check out how many 67 and 68's have them. Does it say the car was factory equiped with one? My guess is that it was added by the owner unless there is documentation to prove otherwise.

The 302 has a 4" bore just like the 350 and 327. That's why they share the same block casting numbers. The 302 just has a shorter stroke at just 3". I don't have my book in front of me but it I recall the 307 has a longer stroke and much smaller bore. I've read that the 307 is not suitable to be bored out to 4" because the casting is too porus that far out...

The "ZL-2 Special Ducted Hood" became available for dealer order around 1 December 1968. As far as is known only ZL-1s #1 & #2 were equipped with it during calendar year 1968. It was available on SS with any engine and Z/28.

If you want one on your car, go right ahead.

The height of the intake manifold determines which air cleaner fits, Z-28 type intake fits the one for a 302 , and the cast intake takes the air cleaner for the 350.There is a difference in the metal spacer, 302 shorter for tall intake, 350 a little taller for the shorter intake and no spacer for big blocks. The classic industries catalog explains it.

307's came from the factory with 2 barrel carbs. There is no such thing as a factory 2 bbl cowl induction air cleaner.

If the car has a 4 bbl carb then it is not the original carb or intake.

Good point Mark C. I forgot about that!! Duh! If you want to stay origianl, don't put one on. If you don't care and like the cowl setup, then do it!

I agree, if you like the look and want it on your car then go for it! It is my understanding also that the 307 is basically a stroked 283, and as Mark said they ALL only came with a 2bbl carb. Good Point Mark!
