Doing some experimenting on the 534" motor that`s in a 69 Camaro.
Took out the Comp hyd roller lifters and put a set of Crane solid rollers in.
Motor sounds nice seems to run decent too.

Track time tomorrow night, should prove interesting.
Will post results

Do you have any before ET's? I would be interested to know how much of a difference it really makes. What kind of RPM did it turn with the hyd? If not too much trouble post the RPM differences too.

Record all of the weather statistics too..barometer, dew point and temp. This time of year the air is great for making power and that alone could account for some e.t.

If I remember right it was runnin 10.teens@130+,but I'm sure Big and his buddy have made a lot of passes on it, so we'll see what the difference will be. I'm interested. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Hey Big, did you see my post below about the 700hp 496? good combo!

camaroman7d..Lots of runs and lots of miles too, the RPM deal is one aspect I`m really interested in too, the hyd set up is shifted at 5600-5800 1-2 shift and 6000 2-3 shift give or take. Trap RPM was 6500 +- @ 130+ MPH.

Greg O.. We`re not that ate up to record all those factors, though it would be interesting to keep track of it all.
Maybe we`ll do that eventually just because.

67RS502..Yes I saw the post that`s a stout set up no doubt

Made 5 runs tonight. 10.33-10.37 ET
Last run:
1.52 60 ft... 10.34 ET @ 130.75 MPH
All in all things look pretty good for the cooler weather to come.
I`ll go over the log book later, but so far I`m pleased with the results.

So are you saying there was no improvement?
Did you shift it at the same rpm? does it wanna be shifted at a higher rpm? I didnt think there would be much of an improvement as long as the hyd. rollers were not bleeding down or floatin.
Give us some more info Big. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
its an interesting swap.

I am wondering the exact same things as 67RS502. Mainly interested in what happened with the shift points and if it wanted to rev/ make power any higher than before.

So far everything looks to be an improvement across the board.

Got in late last night, and just got back from the World Street Finals in Orlando, so I haven`t had time really to go over the log book in detail, but if I had to say one way or the other right now, then absolutely.

On the last run, shifts were 6600 RPM 1-2 and 6800 RPM 2-3 without any noticable problems.

For the record...I could care less one way or the other, this is an experiment pure and simple.

So from what I understand from your post on Chevelles, you are shifting at a higher rpm, and it should go faster in better weather - right, I get it now. So 9s could happen - cool graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Also Big could you post your mph increase (on my 383 post) from the 1/8 to the 1/4, my 383 only picked up 20mph which seams low, and since you also have a tall (323) gear I'd like to know what your 1/8mile mph is
thanks
