Do they make a crank in that stroke for 350 mains to work with my 6.0 H beam rods? Thanks
Adam
PS- Is it doable with a GM block?

View Full Version : 3.875'' Crank Drag67Camaro Feb 9th, 05, 08:36 PM Do they make a crank in that stroke for 350 mains to work with my 6.0 H beam rods? Thanks Adam PS- Is it doable with a GM block? nitrous383 Feb 10th, 05, 01:56 AM I have a 383 with H-beam rods and a gm block. It took a alot of grinding to take the stroker crank so i wouldnt think so Eric68 Feb 10th, 05, 06:30 AM It is doable with a GM block but requires more grinding than a regular 3.75" crank (about 1/16" more). It would be a good idea to do a short fill on a GM block just to stiffen up the bottom end and put some beef behind the thinned out oil pan rails. You will definately need a small base circle cam. Check with Scat on the crank. Cap screw rods will help with cam clearance. You may need a little heavy metal to get one to balance out right. 67RS502 Feb 10th, 05, 07:39 AM Do you really need H-beams? They make some nice I-beams now that will take a good beatin, are lighter and cheaper too. novaderrik Feb 10th, 05, 08:22 AM isn't that the stroke on the GM 383 crate motors? if so, then, yes, you can get one and, yes, it will fit. you would need a late model one piece seal block to use the GM crank, tho. but that opens up the possibilities for easy hyd roller cam setups if you should go that way. Drag67Camaro Feb 10th, 05, 09:46 AM Thanks for the replies, I already have a 350 block 2pc rear main seal, I have a set of new Eagle H beam 6.0's, I do think I need these H beams because I also have a Cheater Plate kit. I figured I'd need a small base circle cam, but I hope these rods will work with the combo, I did see that Eagle makes that crank for a 6.0 rod, so I figure I'd just take it to the machine shop with the whole bottom end, Have them assemble it and get all the clearances fixed, Should i have the cam in too so they can check that? Thanks again Adam Eric68 Feb 10th, 05, 02:35 PM FWIW The stroke on the GM 383 is 3.800" LarryC5 Feb 11th, 05, 04:40 AM Here is the website info for Eagle. http://www.eaglerod.com/products/selectengine.html I also have a 3.875 crank (Cola) with 6" Eagle rods using 350 mains in GM roller block which nets out 396ci. The grinding required is not that bad. Drag67Camaro Feb 12th, 05, 12:09 PM What RPM can you safely rev it to? kamero68 Feb 12th, 05, 05:29 PM I looked at using a 3.875 in a 400 block awhile back and couldnt find any production forged pistons for that stroke and 400 bore. Was going to have to buy high dollar custom pistons. You might want to check into that before you spring for a crank. Drag67Camaro Feb 13th, 05, 12:32 PM I should be able to find flattops for that combo, hopefully... I just want something different, what could this safely be revved to? A Performance parts dealer quoted me 500 for the crank, 4340 from eagle... Thanks Adam |
