Hi guys: It has been quite a long time since my last post. Been busy getting car back together from the winters project of a cam swap and bowl clean cleanup on the heads. My last post involved the debate on whether or not to go with CompCams suggestion, which was their hydrolic roller xr294hr-10 .540in .562ex dur 242in 248ex at .050 .Just about every one on the board suggested that this cam was to big and that I should go with the cheaper, smaller xe282 solid flat tappet. It was a very tough choice to make and good arguments on both sides of the fence .After reading several responses to my post I went with Greg O's suggestion and bought the xr294hr. Greg,I like to buy you a Canadian beer sometime, cause that cam really woke up the 355! Took your suggestion of stepping up the staul also.I spent a little extra and upgraded to comps premium springs and roller lifters and also put a AFR rev kit in it. The staul was stepped up to a 3500. With only two passes at the track,no tuning to the carb from last years setup, the same tire size and gear ,I have a new best et of 11.96 at 112mph crossing the traps at 6100rpm. My 60ft was a 1.630. Last years best was a 12.55 at 107mph crossing the traps at 5600 with a 1.640 60ft. Needless to say I am very happy with the results of all the changes. One other thing I did was put a MSD two step box on to help me get some consistent 60fts. I wired it to the brake light pedal switch and currently am using a 3000 chip for the launch. I don't have a trans brake and don't use the linelock for launching , so this is the only way I could think of to wire it.It does work good on the launch but i didn't account for what would happen on the big end when applying the brakes at 6100 rpm! Guess what? The 3000 chip kicks in and starts cutting cylinders out! Just about blew the mufflers right off it. Only solution I have come up with is to put car in neutral after crossing traps, so rpm is below 3000 before applying brakes. I really do not like doing this and I am sure eventually the track officials will give me grief about this practice. I would really appreciate any solutions you guys may have on fixing this dilema properly. Sorry about the long post, but have a hard time, finding time to post in the first place, so I really needed to take full advantage at this time! Sincerly: Justaboutfastenough68maro

Thats some quick times for a 355, and the mph shows that you can run
a bit quicker. Whats the wt. of your car?
Thats the cam "sheetmetal" runs in his Chevelle, with a 383 its
gone 7.teens in the 1/8, which is low 11s, the cam works well even in
small motors and heavy cars.
