Anyone ever run one of their small block cams? What did you think? Theyre pretty reasonably priced, the tech guys seem to know their stuff and they have some very nice aggressive grinds i like..... So lets hear some opinions on them. Good and Bad

A buddy of mine ran Howards Cams in his A/Fuel dragster back in the early 70's. He set 3 World Records back then using their cams. I havn't heard much about them lately.

Isky is another one with an excellent reputation and top notch customer service. I have 2 of their cams and have never used either  Although the 2nd cam I bought from them will be in use very, very soon

Dude, what the hell was that all about? It was just a suggestion, just like your suggestion to try Crower. I have never tried Howard cams so can't comment on them. Lighten up.

I do believe there are a bunch of old cam grinders out there that if you take the time to call and talk to the man, can still make some darn good cams!!

Clay Smith, Reed, and as mentioned, Howard and Isky, also Racer Brown to name a few...

I also think of UDHarold here too!!

I do know I wrote Clay Smith and the guy wrote back, "I got just the thing" and spit out some cam spec's that if I recall right put it right up there with UDHarold's cam for my particular application!!! pdq67

I have used Howard's cams and I've never had a problem. They worked well! I used to live by their shop in Menifee valley, Calif in the early 90s. It was just a small outfit located behind a house in the country. A guy by the name of Donny was the grinder, A really nice guy. He would grind you whatever you wanted. I think Howard's was bought by a large company since then!

From what I understand, Howard Cams is located in Wisconsin these days, (near where MerCruiser engines are built) and they are doing some cool things with regrinds and what nots. I buy a bunch of their de-tuned HP 500 cams (make about 475 HP in a 502 with no required mods to stock roller valvetrain. We've had a couple of gear compatibility issues, but they've been easy to deal with, good tech / customer support. We've done about 100 of their cams.
