I got a sbc with the cheezy stamped steel engine mounts in the factory locations. Just wondering when these mounts wouldnt be strong enough and would have to go to something stronger?

Are you asking about the frame mounts, or the engine mount to the block?? As far I know GM, never made a solid engine mount, If you are leary, put a chain/turn buckle, or go engine, and mid plates!

I assume you are talking about Moroso solid mounts that bolt to the block? A stock GM block will break before those will. I ran 10 teens with those mounts and a stock 350 block.

It really denpends on the car/combination. A stick car will be a lot harder then automatic. A car that runs low 10's with a bigblock that makes 700# of torque and 3.55 gears will stress the mounts a lot more then a car that runs the same number with a smallblock that makes 400# of torque and has 6.14 gears. Either eway,I run mid 9's in a 3600# car with an automatic with solid mounts bolted to the sides of the block. I have a friend that ripped the sides of his block out back in the late 60's running low 10's in his bigblock powered Chevelle gasser.

When you really should be running a tube frame car is when you need to make the switch to front and mid plates.
