I can tell you what NOT to use- any cleaner that has bleach in it! We used a bleach based cleaner on the top of our 69 Firebird and it worked beautifully- got the top nice and white. It also started eating the threads away. I'm now in the market for a new top.
I would call Year One or any good canvas shop and ask them what they recommend.

I use Ivory soap on my tops.

Use a gentle cleanser and a soft bristle brush. If you use anything too strong that will either abrade the top or break down the fabric, you won't notice it right away but you will in a month or so after it has been rained on or washed several times. PPG makes an excelent convertible top dye that is sprayed on like paint and wears very well. Just follow the directions.

I agree with ragtop. I use plain nonsented soap and a SOFT bristle brush. Just rince off when done.

Toby,

I took a look at Ppg.com and came up empty on the top dye. Do you have any more info?

Thanks.
