bravewink Jul 10th, 02, 09:09 PM You didn't mention rear end gears or if this is a driver or just a race car. Intended usage would be the ultimate factor. Without knowing that, I can say that folks around here have been VERY pleased with the results with the 282S. This is the cam I'd pick for a car that sees alot of street duty. It will have all kinds of midrange. I think eleven's are bit optimistic with your combo. I'd say mid to low 12's would be closer to the actual ET's you'd see with 4.11's. I'm a 1.6 rocker guy myself, but in reality, it's not worth a whole lot of performance, if any. If you have 1.5's I'd use them.

ConnorO Jul 11th, 02, 09:25 AM the car has 4.56 gears. it will mostly be used for track and see occasional street, so what would put me in the 11's?
Eric68 Jul 11th, 02, 10:16 AM OK, here's my take on your combo.
The dual plane intake definately fits better with the 282s (or smaller). A Vic Jr would work well with the 282s or bigger.
The 4.56 gear is a bit much IMO for the 282s since you will be well over 6000 RPM (closer to 7000 RPM) through the traps.
10.0:1 compression is fine for the 282s but on the low side for the 294s.
The 3500 stall is perfect IMO for te 282s, but on the low side of optimal for the 294s.
Basically, IMO everything in your combo except the gears fits best with the 282s. Maybe a 4.11 gear or a tall tire would work real nice with the rest of your parts.
But that's just my opinion.
pdq67 Jul 11th, 02, 02:39 PM You might consider a Z-25 OR Z-30 Isky solid cam b/c of your low gears! It should get you down the road in a hurry if everything else is up to stuff. Imho. pdq67
ConnorO Jul 11th, 02, 04:47 PM k, well im not really up to switching gears right now, so where can i find the isky's? and also are there any other suggestions?
Connor
Glenn1018 Jul 11th, 02, 05:20 PM Summit says they carry all of Isky's stuff. There's a small selection in the cam section of the catalog, and customer service should be able to help. There's also www.iskycams.com, (http://www.iskycams.com,) but their site is being worked on.
I'm going to use a Z-25 in a similar set up, but I have 4.10 instead of 4.56 gears. Your CR may be a bit low for the Z-30. I'd ask Isky, they know what they're doing.

pdq67 Jul 11th, 02, 08:19 PM That was the only concern I had about mentioning the Z-30, Glenn1018. I do know one will run like Jack, the Bear in a '64 Vette 327 fuelie mill!!! pdq67
