hello,
I just found a 929 cam in the shop, it hasn't
been used
Right now I have a 355 with 8.5 compression, 882 heads, 3.08 open rear, and a comp 292H.
I know it a bad combo graemlins/clonk.gif
i was thinking of switching to the Crane Enigizer 266
would i see much difference between the 929 and the crane
With the 929 all I would have to do would be to buy lifters.
Or should I try and sell the 929 and put the money towards the crane.
This is going to be mainly for the street. 70 Chevelle
Thanks,
Mert :beers:

The old -929 cam is a very good stock cam and should work well in your motor, but if you want a little more power, then sell it and go the Crane 266 cam!!
And you might consider adding a set of the rubber coated steel, .015 shim headgaskets to up your CR. a schosh to make a little more power for you. They are Fel-pro's PN 1094..pdq67

I've bought new cams through the years at swap meets for like $30 or so in the box from bulk piles as the manufacturers were trying to sell them down through Speed Shops so haven't any idea now what it is worth.
Put it on ebay and see??? pdq67

-929 is a good cam for a stock vehicle. Very reliable and flexible. Of course it will run fine in your car, that is the application it was designed for. It will run a LOT better than that one you have in there now.
That being said, I would not use a -929 unless you are building a car for your teenage little girl, or mother.
If you want a cam that is less "generic" and more suited to your specific needs, by all means consult an expert and know what you are shooting for. You have many choices available. Regular old Edelbrock Performer would do the trick. Many other possibillities. smile.gif
