: '68 Power top switch mounting?

Are there clips that hold the power top switch housing to the dash and instrument carrier?

I'm not talking about the 4 spring clips that hold the switch in the die-cast housing - more like whatever holds the screws that go through the dash instrument carrier and sandwich the carrier/dash/switch housing together.

If there are special clips - does anyone have 'em?

Thanks TC

Maybe the bracket mounting holes are supposed to be threaded and I just use machine screws? The power top switch bracket I have is not threaded and I wonder about snapping that die-cast piece of metal if i attempt to thread it.

My '67 has threaded holes for machine screws in the die cast piece (original to the car), assume its the same for '68 - not sure.

Thank you George. I would guess they're the same as well. That would be a good reason why I cant find any info on clips of some sort. I'll see if I can rustle up some self tapping machine screws that will work.

if you look at my webshots link below, on the first page of shots in my 69 camaro folder, you will see a 68 camaro switch screwed into the bottom part of the cluster

Thank you Angel,

Thats kinda what mine looks like now, but I did that to the car. Do you think those screws in your picture are original.

The reason I ask is that I've just found the diagram in my '68 AIM. It shows what look like countersunk machine screws rather than oval-head screws/washers. Also - my dash carrier looks like it is provisioned for countersunk screws.

Oh yeah - and the switch bracket is definately threaded (to accept machine screws) with no additional clips.

I guess I forgot to mention that my screws were countersunk into the dash with tapered heads - again, this is on my '67 (my bad - sorry)

No problem George. I also forgot to mention it in the first thread of this message ;)

Thanks again
