Front end vibrates badly-only when brakes are applied. No pedal pulse.

16 inch TA wheels, torqued to 100 lbs.

Replaced idler arm... made no difference.

What next?

Does the car vibrate at any other time while driving? I would suspect the brakes if it only happens when you brake. You could have a cracked rotor and not feel the pulsing/vibration. Other than that im stumped.

Nope... only under braking. Could it be that the castle nut is too loose on the spindle?

It sounds like a rotor could be warped. Try spinning the rotor without the wheel and use some kind of marker. It shouldn't be hard to tell. I've had that problem - feels like the steering wheel is giving your hands a massage.

Could also be worn ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. The extra load from stopping can make it go unstable, though I'd expect these to at least cause it to wobble at SOME speed without the brakes applied, even if it might be worse, or more consistent, under braking.

I had that problem on a couple of cars and it was brakes/rotors on one and seperated tires on another. Good luck Pete

could be a bent spindle as well... if the rotor and caliper aren't lined up, you will get some weird stuff going on.
