I am still working on the fuel system in my 69 RS. I currently have -6 braided stainless hose running frome the tank to the carb w/one way valve(to keep fuel from draining into tank after extended storage times--which was the 1st problem), then Summit electric fuel pump(burned the first pump up with the 1st problem--2nd problem), and then a fuel pressure regulator(am on the third regulator and this is the current problem).
The problem is, the fuel pressure is fine when the pump is first on but the longer it runs the pressure just gradually increases. When idling, the pressure gauge will peg out after so long, but as long as it is moving it will level out.
My question is, if I unplug the other port on the regulator and run a line back to the rear of the car, and put a T in the line between the one-way valve and pump, will this cure my problem? I know they recommend using a return line to prolong the life of the pump but will it help me with my problem?
Please help with this, I have only been able to put about 20 miles on my crate motor in 6 months and want to get it broke in for some track time this summer.
Thanks
