I just had a new top put on my 68 and new complete weather stripping for entire car. There is about an inch gap in the front corner of the window wetherstripping. It looks like the top rail strip doesn't come forward enough to meet the pillar post weather strip. Anybody have experienced this?

I'll get pics next time I'm at the restorer.

I just looked at the part numbers of what I bought. According to the invoice I bought a kit from Classic Industries number R5117 but the invoice lists all the components separately and it shows part # MET RR 1500 ROOF RAIL SEAL, 5 PIECE. However looking at the pics in the catalog it looks to me like I got a 7 piece set because it doesn't look like the front top rail is attached to the header which it appears a 5 piece set would be. I'll have to look at it closer.

Looking at Metro website I don't even see a 7 piece weatherstrip set. Here are pics of the pillar post and 5 piece header and roof rail. The 2 sure don't meet up to each other in the corner.

Yup, happened to me too. typical! After I drove it for a while, the header was leaking air, so I thightend it down some more and it is closer, but still not touching. :(

I have the same problem with my 69 convertible at the front . Huge gap and no way to fix it. Everything is adjusted to the max. Typical of all of this aftermarket junk.

Has anyone used the 7 piece seal kit? The header and first 2 side rail sections are 3 separate pieces according to the catalogs but I can't find a part number for the 7 piece kit.

My car (68) originally had a 7-piece seal set. I bought the 5-piece seal kit, which I haven't installed yet. I called several vendors looking for the 7-piece kit but nobody has them. A few vendors told me they are no longer available.

Could it be that the pillar post w-strip is too short, or does it extend up high enough? How does it compare with your original pieces?

I'm curious to see the pictures of how everything fits.

I've been in touch with Metro. They say it should not be a problem and may just not be adjusted correctly. It may not even be srewed into the right hole?? He wants me to send a pic but I don't have the car here and I didn't do the install anyway so I've asked my installer to call them and discuss. Maybe they can work out what is going on. I'll let y'all know.
