I ended up putting a Big stuff 3 system on my camaro with a BBC 454 w/55# injectors. I have the car running but it is running really rich and doesnt idle very well. One of my questions is what do I want the volumetric efficiancy to be at idle? Also what idle AFR am I looking for? RIght now I have to adjust the injector flow rate really high in order to get it to idle at all. I think I am around 90% VE and around 10.5 to 11 on the AFR. Any advice?....Jon

I'm not super savy on the Big Stuff system, but the VE at idle and everywhere else for that matter depends on your motor and is different for every one. I use EFI live and HP Tuners (previously) on the LS series motors so I'm trying to equate those to the big stuff. I would double check your injector flow rate numbers to make sure it's right for the 55#'s. that sounds like the most likely problem, especially if the problem is over a wide range of RPM's. AFR should be around 14.7 at idle with the engine warm. When cold it should be richer depending on what the motor likes (mines around 12.8-13.0). Is the big stuff a speed density system (doesn't use a MAF sensor)? If it uses the MAF, then VE's don't do much to the tune...
My thoughts probably don't mean much considering it's the big stuff... Take them for what their worth.
