have a 1968 camaro 454 th400tranny engine stock excapt slightly larger cam alum intake edelbrock carb has a 4 core radiator, stock bb shroud 18" 7blade flexalit fan and runs 220-240 within a few miles everything from hoses to radiator is brand new tried all degrees of thermostats,disconnected tranny lines from radiator altogether,2 bottles water wetter can't cure it any help? used hand held digital thermometer engine and radiator are getting hot so i know water is flowing.

Water pump? Unless you are a stickler for stock appearing, I recommend a CSI. Flows 37GPM. May cure your problems. Good Luck.

Jim, the prevailing question in this is does it overheat at idle/slow speeds and/or cruising down the road. If it overheats at idle will cruising cure it? And conversely, if it overheats at cruising does idling cure it? The answer will send us on our way to curing your problem because they have differing issues. I am going to assume you have your timing set up correctly.
Overheating at idle/slow speeds and cooling at cruise is strictly an airflow issue.
Overheating at cruising and cooling at idle is either a lower hose collapsing or more likely a too lean condition from the carb. Could be the pump but unless it's completely in ruins I would not expect a pump to give up flow to that extent. But, a high flowing pump will help your cause regardless.
Just tell us more specifically what the symptoms are and under what conditions they are happening.
