Ok I have dropped the gas tank and gone through
a heck of a time getting the old sending unit out of the gas tank, however i cant seem to remember does the rubber round piece gasket go in first followed by the sending unit itself then followed by the cam ring piece?

Ooh and one last question please the new sending unit that came in looks like it has a condom like filter on the end of it, when i pulled out the old one it didnt have a filter on the end tip of the sending unit, am i suppose to take that filer thing off or leave it on .. thanks for the help and time...

The rubber O-ring goes on first, then unit, then lock ring.
Leave the filter there.

Also check your tank for reminince of the old sock filter that was on the old sending unit, part of the mesh screen will probably be desolved and floating around, as well as the metal ring.
