: Opening for rear quarter window

I have a 68 Camaro convert. I've always had issues with the rear quarter window on the passenger side. (I've converted to power windows). With the trim installed and the inside panels with the rubber trim, it wont roll up at all. The driver side is fine. I measured the opening for both sides and the passenger side is about a quarter inch smaller. Any easy way to open that up that I'm not aware of? I didnt notice any bent brackets inside or around the opening and I dont think that quarter has been replaced. (Patched but not replaced). Any ideas? Appreciate the help!

Hey Brian - Was this also an issue with this window before you converted to power?

I don’t know if your power windows are original factory or an aftermarket “kit.” All I can vouch for are my original factory power windows.
I’ve had trouble with the back quarters being a good bit slower to rise than the door windows.
1) You have to keep trying to fine tune all the adjusting screws & rollers.
2) Be sure to use the right kind of white lithium grease.
3) I accidentally found out one day that the master power window switch itself, can make a really big difference in the back quarter’s performance.
For some reason I had to change my master power switch over to a spare that had been sitting around the garage for years. I noticed it made a really big difference in the back quarters upward motion capabilities. Of course, I just kept using that one, & now the “original” is the spare.

When you say that the opening is smaller on one side, are you measuring the actual metal part of the car without the rear door panel on or are you measuring with the trim panels on? If you are measuring with the trim panel on, it could be that you don't have it snapped into place and it is binding against the window. Compare it to the other side.

I honestly couldnt tell you. I pretty much started taking the car apart soon after I got it in 2000. I dont remember any issues, but really didnt use them much.

Thanks for the info. I did use the white lithium and the window has enough power that it jams it and then pops the roller off of the regulator arm. Now that is a pain everytime that happens. (Currently hunting down a replacement since I have lost the current one!) And you are absolutely right, you have to keep adjusting...it can be maddening! I'll keep at it.

I took the measurements without the interior sail panel pieces on it, but with the chrome reveal molding on, with the felt still on the car. when I put the sail panel back in, it becomes almost impossible to get the window up without the regulator roller not popping off. Appreciate all of the help. Really has me scratching my head!

Can you post a picture can't figure where your issues are in the metal work or bad felt

I have had times in past when no matter how much adjusting I did on the windows, I couldn't get them (the quarters) to function properly. Once I even changed all the plastic rollers on one quarter window & it still wouldn't function right. Then, I bought one of these (see link below). For some reason it did the trick. The window started working much smoother & I was able to go ahead & put my interior back in. This is just something for you to think about if can't ever get it working right, no matter how much adjusting you do.
