Well about a month ago I installed the American thunder exhaust system.. I personally like the throaty exhaust at idle... But get on it just a little and bam..I have Been stopped 3 times...
Do they have a muffler that would tone it down without having to hack up the system??

You are simply being harrased......How many times have you seen Harley's pulled over? None.
Call Flowmaster for their recommendations.

An "X" pipe in the middle would surely mellow it out without causing a loss of power, but you might call that hacking up the system.

Rob.. Here in mass...you see it all the time...excessive noise... Motorcycles are given more leeway.... I don't get ticketed so it really is just a nuisance... That gets old...I mean I love the way it sounds.... But get on it just a little and it's a real attention getter....
John.. I have a crossover now but have been told that an x pipe would mellow it... But really wanted to see if someone knew of a different muffler.. I know they have a 50 series ...Just Not sure if it will bolt in without having to cut the system up?? And if it's more mellow than the 40..

Hector - Understand.
The sad part is that many, many more motorcycles are way louder than these systems when wide open.
Call flowmaster and they should be able to give you the infomation.

Doug I thought the American thunder exhaust came with 40 series mufflers..
Was hoping flowman would be here...to give me some recommendations...

Look on FM's site.... they have sound clips too.
The 40's that come on the kit are the Delta 40's...I think ?

Hector – Which kit do you have? #17129 has the Super 44’s and #17201 has the Super 40’s.
The 50 Series muffler would quiet down your Camaro, but muffler case is very big and probably won’t fit in the same spot. A 40 Series Delta Flow muffler will have the same size case and will be quieter. The decrease in volume will depend on which muffler you currently have installed. Here’s a chart showing the different levels of volume of the Flowmaster mufflers. Check to see the position of your mufflers compared to the 40 Series Delta Flow’s on the chart.
