According to another site, Z/28 4 wheel discs had to be added on by the customer. http://www.camaros.net/forum/confused.gif Is this true, or were there ones sold from the factory with 4 discs?

It was an option that the customer ordered. Very expensive at the time (something like $500 - alot when the whole car was about $3500). Was added for the TransAm racing.

I believe the code when ordering this set up was known as JL8. At least that is what I have read it was for the '69 model year. And yes it was factory installed. I believe that the dealers could also install this option.

This was also available through the parts department during the 68 and 69 model years as a service package.I dont know the exact availability dates though.

You could get the JL8 disk brakes from the factory or over the counter as a service package. There is a guy near me who is restoring a JL8 Z28 whose owner ordered the rear disk brakes by mistake. When they asked him if he wanted disk brakes he said sure. He thought they meant front disk brakes. He didn't want to pay the $600 extra so they gave it to him for half. He got a factory JL8 by mistake!
