Question: Will a Hurst Shifter work with the stock '67 console with the stock shifter plate???

Automatic? Yes
I put a Quarterstik in my 67 using the 4-speed plate. No cutting to the console. You do have to change the hole in the floor a little & add a small hole for the cable.
I didn't like the reverse lock-out, so I went back to a factory shifter.

That looks good,,,,but, I have a 4 speed. Do you know if the original shifter plate will work with the Hurst 4 speed shifter?

I had a 4-speed with a Hurst shifter before the automatic. No problem. I don't know if any shifter will work, but the one I had did.

Thank for the response. I am putting the console in tomorrow and will let you know if any problems are encountered.

The only problem I had was the screws holding the shift plate were a little long for the slider to work correctly. Shorter screws and it works like a champ.

Hello, fellow Georgian.

I had a Hurst Comp + shifter in my 67 with a console and it fit, but this particular Comp + shifter is an older design where the handle is not a bolt-on style like newer Comp + shifters.

I had my shifter rebuilt by Hurst and it worked great other than on the track. Now I'm running a Super Shifter/3 and there's no way in hell that thing fits with a console.

Good luck with your car.

Mine is a 67 and my dad (also in Alpharetta) has a 68 Z/28. We both participate in the GAFBA (http://www.gafba.com/) which mostly involves racing events.

We're probably taking my dad's 68 to a cruise in this Saturday. Drop me an email if you want to meet.
