Interesting story on COPO special paint Chevy Citations.

There is an on going discussion on if there were any COPO paint Camaros so it is interesting that this guy calls these Citations COPO ordered cars.

Most special paint build sheets (Chevelle) have F&SO paint but I have seen a few that show COPO paint so I believe that some Chevy cars were COPO special paint

He's writing with a bias to compare it the 69 COPO 427's. He calls it COPO paint, but that doesn't mean it was w/o paperwork. It was ordered by his dad thru the Central Office. Not much difference to most people between a COPO and a Central Office special order. And the system could have changed by then - it was 15 years later.

There was also a 2-tone version available in 1980. So painting these wouldn't have been a big deal.

The Citation was a great car - cheap and tons of room. I always wanted an 84-85 X11 in dark blue (same color as the Monte Carlo SS), but just had regular versions.
