I replaced the rubber/vinyl "boot" (center support, for lack of a better term) that goes around the base of the mirror on my '67 vert last year with a repro one that I bought from Camaro Central. It will no longer hold the ends of the sun visors in position. Now they just fall out of the grooves that are supposed to hold the little rubber tips over the ends of the visors, and the visors flop down every time I hit a bump. I have tried tightening the visor brackets around the bushings, but the problem is not in this area. It is like they made the grooves that hold the rubber tips too large. I'm seriously thinking about taking a pair of channel locks and seeing if I can squeeze the grooves together to make them tighter. The only other thing I can think of to do is to wrap the rubber tips in some electrical tape to make them larger.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Buy a used GM one. Are the repro ones metal reinforced to allow crimping? Originals are not.

You might want to try a heat gun to soften the plastic so you can close the grooves up a little bit to make it a more snug fit.All of the repop interior soft parts are junk. You might be able to find a GM piece as Scott suggested.

Thanks for the idea - I'll give it a try. I had a GM part on there, and wanted to clean up the interior before a show. I guess I might just have to doctor up the original one to try to get it to look decent.
