last weekend on hotrod t.v. they talked about a new product to add to coolant that claims to reduce temparatures by 20 degrees, i think they said it was a royal purple product or purple something, anybody familiar with this?

I have sold similar products at my store, but I would have to say in all honesty it is just a gimick. the best thing you can do is use the newer version of anti-freeze(Dex-cool)or(prestone extended life). I hope that didnt ruin your plans.

Red Line Oil Water Wetter - Costs about $7 per bottle. Does it work? I believe it has helped. It is supposed to help with the actual exchange of heat between the H20, Core material, and coolant. I was faced with such a heat problem with a roots style blown engine that this was merely one fix that I did all at once among several others (huge radiator, shroud, fan etc). Several friends bracket race as well as money-based street race and also use the Red Line additive and swear by it. This was enough for me to dump it into the radiator along with the rest of the soup.

There are several products I sell that claim to be "miracle in a bottle" most cooling system stuff only breaks down surface tension of water making it easier to absorb and release heat. A 50/50 mix of good coolant does the same thing. There is no substitute for good radiator (right size and flow) As for Hot Rod TV I know those guys...they barely know where the spark plugs go! just pretty faces for TV.

I couldn't agree more!!! The best thing I ever did for cooling was purchasing a much larger 4 core radiator with shroud. Combined with a 160 thermostat the engine temp is very liveable.
