Hi i am a new member. I was wondering if it was posseible to take a ponti grand prix engine and put it into my 85 iroc. I dont know the size of the ponti but it's a 4.9 litter, i want to know if it would be able to bolt to my transmisson and if it would fit.

the pontiac engine and the iroc engine have different bell housings and the trans won't bolt up.

the bitterness of poor quality remains, long after the sweetness of the low price is forgotten

Why do you want to do that? It would be easier and cheaper to put in a nice small block than wasting time trying to adapt that thing.

Probably be a real tough job as even the Firebird used the Chevy engines.

The Pontiac 4.9 is a 301, not really known for real performance and definately not worth the effort. Even the turbo 301's that came in the late 70's Trans Am's were junk and rated one of the ten worst engines of all time in a recent magazine. Find another small block chevy.

also isnt that around the time that pontiac started messing around with the swapping of Olds engines in some of the cars?
